Karen Smyers helped her husband apply the sunblock before swimming today. If you don't know her story, google her right now - she is pure inspiration.
Registration was a streamlined, easy, and comprehensive process. You fill things in, prove you're you and then get a race bag and a goody bag. Where are the cookies and milk? When you have the band snapped to your wrist, you're official. Something feels different when you're registered.
The registration volunteers are superheros.
My support crew Rita and Emily arrived yesterday. They'll be helping with the blog, and it's so nice to cross the finish line and get passed from the Ironman "Catchers," to two of your own catchers that you really care about. People are what make this sport great. (photo courtesy of David Gonzalez)
